I had never ridden a bicycle into water before so it came as quite a surprise to learn that the darn thing wouldn’t stay on the bottom. After getting about waist deep the bicycle and the actor would begin to float and topple over. I really wanted him to be able to ride until fully submerged so we strapped panniers to the back of the bike and loaded them up with rocks. This kept everything firmly on the ground until complete submersion.

Success!

The only problem then was lugging the super-heavy bike off the bottom of the lake.
